Welcome! I am a commercial and documentary filmmaker working in the Portland area. I love the adventure of discovering stories, meeting new people, and learning something new every day.
Telling stories visually is my passion. Written words never feel like enough. The beauty and “magic” of film to tell a story and communicate a feeling is incredible. To create a vicarious moment through moving images and sound is a privilege and a challenge. I love the adventure of filmmaking. I love meeting colorful people, and telling their stories.
Time and again, I live a scenario related by Robert Bresson:
“My movie is first born in my head, dies on paper; is resuscitated by the living persons and real objects I use, which are killed on film but, placed in a certain order and projected onto a screen, come to life again like flowers in water.”
I can’t draw on paper to save my life, but I storyboard almost everything, with a rainbow of Post-it notes. It is beautiful in my mind, bland and technical on paper, exciting when recorded in real time, odd when played back uncut, but almost exactly what I imagined when the project is completed. It’s a cycle of challenges and adventure!
Who am I beyond filmmaking?
When I’m not behind the camera or at the computer, I love hanging with my incredible family and friends, studying the Bible and Spanish, snowboarding, waterskiing, scuba diving, fighting the never-ending battle of the Rubik’s Cube, meeting interesting people, and discovering great chocolate.
I’d love to tell your story; let the adventure begin!
